Why a stamp, not a checkbox

Checkboxes feel administrative. A small “x” is the visual language of a to-do list, and a habit is not a chore — it is a thing you wanted enough to do again.

A stamp, by contrast, asks for a pause. Tap, hold, watch ink land. The intentionality is part of the record.

The weight of an interaction

In WishStamp the stamp animation lasts about 220 ms. Long enough to feel deliberate. Short enough to not feel like a delay.

The body of this note will be expanded with the design rationale, the sketches we rejected, and how the haptic was tuned to fall behind the visual.
